Unity is the source of strength. There is a famous saying: “UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL”

The story of a farmer and his sons teaches us the moral that unity makes the people strong.

Once there was an old farmer. He lived a very hard life. He had four sons. His sons were always quarrelling with each other. The old man was worried because of their disunity. He tried his best to unite them, but could not succeed. By chance, the old man fell ill and, his death was sure. His sons came to see him. He asked them to bring some sticks. His son’s obeyed him and brought so many sticks. He made a bundle of them and asked them to break the bundle into two pieces. The bundle was made of four sticks. It’s child’s play, said the eldest son. He took the bundle and tried to break. He was surprised that the sticks in the bundle remained intact. He used more force. He tried again and again. He started panting for breathe. The bundle would not break. He gave up. Then his brothers tried to break the bundle of four sticks but they also could not break it. They all also gave up.

Their father smiled and asked them to unite the bundle. He asked each of his sons to take one stick and try to break it. Each of the son took a stick in hand. In No time, the sticks were bent and broken easily. “A single stick is easily broken. If four sticks will intact together so, it is impossible to break them because they are united” said the old man, giving his son a meaningful look. Then he advised his all sons that “If you all remain united and work hard so you can all achieve so many goals but if you all will fight with each other so anyone will break you just like sticks”.

Then his sons sat together, they started thinking over the last message of their father’s advice. The brothers stopped fighting with each other. They worked together as a team and succeed in doing whatever work was given to them.

Moral of the Story:
Unity is Strength defines that when we stay united, we stay stronger and can with stand almost any problem.
