CONFLUX: THE OCEANIC DIVISION

The meeting of two oceans is termed conflux. When two seas meet their water retain individual properties like temperature, colour and density. At a point of conflux, one can see two different water bodies running side by side. The two-ocean mentioned in the Holy Quran are the sweet and bitter waters, which are said not to mix with each other. The Holy Quran mentioned that there is a barrier between two seas that meet and that do not transgress.

In the Holy Quran Allah said that:

“It is He who has let free the two bodies of flowing water: one palatable and sweet, and the other Salty and bitter, yet has made a barrier between them and a prohibiting partition”

This information has been discovered very recently, using advanced equipment to measure temperature, salinity; density, oxygen dissolubility etc. the human eye cannot see the difference between the two seas that meet, rather the two seas appear to us as one homogenous sea.

Like wise, the human eye cannot see the division of water in estuaries into the tree kinds; fresh water, salt water and the partition (zone of separation). When fresh water (sweet water) and salt water meet in an estuary they do not mix. This is the Gulf of Alaska and Pacific Ocean. It’s a very realistic blessing of Allah (S.W.T) to us.
